Article Analysis: Bias

Good evening to everyone. Today's topic is about the bias in the articles and columns. just as it's well-known to all of us, we all have biases. It is one of the things that we always do. When we are judging something, we tend to consider for the best interest, even though we don't want to admit it. We, the thinkers, have always been trying to identify ourselves asobjective judgers. But the truth is, our opinions just can't get away from biases, they are deeply rooted in our minds and thoughts. A common example of bias in our daily life is when we are trying to figure out why we didn't score well in a test, we tent to find an excuse such as not insufficient sleep or bad brain status.

Now, the web adress http://news.xinhuanet.com/mil/2008-10/31/content_10284928.htm is a typical biased article which accuses the Western media because they claim that the Chinese military power is growing in an unacceptable rate. While the Western media are astonished by the rate of development that China has made in the recent decades, they are also worrying about the security concerns that the development might rise due to the uncertainties of China's intention after it becomes stronger. At this point, the Chinese media all put their full effort on assessing the articles on Western newspapers, objectively. But the truth is, they all got the same solution for the Western newspaper: the Western media have some kind of compulsory of blaming China in order to feel comfortable. They claim that the West has a need of finding a ideological enemy in order to set up a direction for the country, for example, the USSR. In other words, the West need an enemy to secure it own position in the World.
In my opinion, this journal is a clear example of what I'm talking about today. It's bias is really obvious and tend to defend whatever the government is doing for whatever reasons. I suggest the author of this journal to assess the Western media in a more "neutral" position instead of accusing the others for some absurd excuses.
