First of all, it feels really good to go back to my blog. It's quite an enjoymement to write posts. Now, today I'm going to explain why I chose this topic in the first place. When I was a little kid, probaly at the age of 6 or 7, I became so obssessed with weapon systems. I was most likely influenced by my uncle since he himself is a fan of armament and has all those kinds of magazines in his house and he showed them to me quite often. Since then I became a weapon fan like him and started reading every single piece of news and analysis about weapons.
When I received this blog assignment that asked me to relate our topics to our own countries I figured out my knowledge about the military can be of great help. As the result, I chose this "default topic". It's about whether China is growing into an aggressively expanding or a peaceful country which will be serving justice and order. But after I finished my first post, I realized that it's far from easy to be objective and avoid biases when analysing the materials because what comes to mind is always based on my personal experience and knowledge I learned from magazines. The biggest problem I encountered was when I had to read
newspapers and assess their biases. I found that task quite difficult because I can't be absolutely sure about the reliability of the materials. For example, there's one newspaper from Washington Posts claims that China's military budget in 2007 is $300 billion, however, the offical number reported by Chinese governmet is $45 billion. Hence, it is very intractable to determine which one is the truth, from my personal experience I would say that the U.S newspaper is exagerating or twisting the reality but I fear that I might be wrong the whole time. Generally, this is the hardest part in my blog.
Another reason why I chose this topic is because I want to show people a real, undemonized China. Although China is a socialism country, there's still a huge revolution undergoing in that place. I was keep asked some strange questions about China, some people ask me whether Chinese are allowed to walk freely in the streets and I consider that question quite ridiculous. People shouldn't regard all socialism countries as another Soviet Union, ruthless tyrany cannot happen in this 21th century unless that country dob't have any basic communication system. China is one of the countries that have been "demonized" and I really want to make some contributions to help change people's impression towards China.

A stalking threat?
It's been 30 years since China found a formal relationship with the U.S and the rest of the world. The new rising power in East Asia has left the world with questions alongside with astonishments. Is it a "peaceful power"? The world has been suffering wars and tortures as great powers rise. The Empire of Great Britain was found on the foundation of massive conlonization and exploit on African slaves. As for the Americans, they took the world leader's title from Britain by selling weapons to Europe and made a fortune by doing this. Although America didn't invade other countries and exploit workforce, the rise of America is still deeply related to wars (WWI and WWII). Thus, whether China's rise is going to bring the world war is the main doubt of the world.
But for me, China's rise will not threat the world and bring in any security issue. Mostly it's because of the time we are experiencing right now. When new super power shows up, it's always during a massive technological innovation. For Bristain it was the Industrial Revolution, and for America, they experienced the Thrid Technological change. Great coutries rise at those moments because all the countries are starting freash; they are all new to this technology and the advantage of the old great power doesn't seem that obvious. But now at our time, we are not having any of those inoovation powerful enough to change the world's power structure.
Besides, China doesn't have the intentin of dominating the world as well. If we check the history of China we will find out that China has never invaded another country before. So we can assume that China's rise is peaceful because of its cultrual background. This character of civilization is solide and hard to change. Therefore, the development taking place in China really should not be feared and demonized. On the other hand, we should go and embrace this new ember of the world's stage for it's being the engine of world's development.
